Provost Studio Launches E-Learning Webcast Studios at Alabama
Updated: May 26
Provost Studio completed the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa location in August 2019 after a two year span of planning and budgeting. Provost Studio continues to push the limit in broadcast studio design proving there is no challenge they cannot handle.
University Hall Webcast Studios:
The newly completed video production facility includes two new webcast studios for the University of Alabama. The project was a result of a collaborative effort with both client and architect spanning over two years. Provost Studio was engaged early in the planning and budgeting process and provided pre-design and broadcast infrastructure consulting services including scenic, lighting and acoustic design. The project involved building two new webcast studios for the College of Continuing Studies(CCS) e-learning initiative but was part of a larger 100,000 sq. ft. renovation project of the existing historic University Hall campus building, which will be the new home for the College. The design challenge was to provide a flexible studio with multiple content presentation areas that could easily be operated by professional and non-professional/ student studio staff. The solution included easily movable scenery, roll-down graphic backdrops and wall mounted push-button stations for different lighting positions. An additional project challenge was the existing building site that was once used as a hospital. The building had to be completely demolished to the concrete structure and re-built from the inside out. Provost studio team coordinated with the project architect and engineering team regarding placement of base building systems (HVAC, electrical and acoustics) to support the new studios.
