DESCRIPTION
Looking explore and push broadcast presentation boundaries mixing physical and virtual scenic environments,
China’s Xinhua News engaged Provost Studio to design a new virtual studio, audience area and public circulation spaces. The project was a close collaboration between Xinhua News, Leyard Technology Engineering and A/V Integrations Systems and Provost Studio; which resulted in blurring the boundaries between the traditional scenic design process and digital media content creation.
The virtual studio features the LED VR System by Leyard Technology with a footprint of approximately 30ft x 40ft (1200sf). The C-shape LED wall configuration is approximately 12ft high and includes top-mounted camera tracking sensors that communicates with on the ground studio cameras, adjusting in real time, the background perspective LIVE behind talent.
Additionally, Provost was part of the on-the-ground R&D team, participating in system physical LED hardware mock-ups and software testing. The custom VR solution was developed and test specifically for Xinhua News in Beijing and provided the flexibility they needed to address a broad array of video production use-cases.
