The new webcast studio for BlackRock re-envisions its current on-air brand identity with this total renovation of its existing 400sf video production studio at 55 E 52nd Street in New York.
One of the biggest design challenges in developing this project was the client’s need for the studio to have the ability be shared by two BlackRock brands: BlackRock and iShares.
Two distinctive looks between the brands are achieved by having a bold, shared brand color (yellow) incorporated into the set, while other brand specific colors are achieved with color-changing light boxes.
The new studio includes a main informal interview area, monitor stand-up area and chromakey area. The new scenic elements include new flooring, two new flexible scenic walls (one is were fabricated each with internal color changing LED lighting.
Aesthetically, the new scenic environment takes cues from BlackRock’s re-branding efforts with its bold color blocking, crisp edges and clean lines. The new studio features two new scenic walls. One wall is an abstract composition of layered cove-lit panels and vertical edge-lit acrylic fins. The other scenic wall is a more traditional window view out to a city scape.
