Peter Provost Assoc. AIA, President & Director of Design

As an architecturally trained, creative design leader with over seventeen years of award-winning design and construction experience, Peter has developed a diverse portfolio of work encompassing the disciplines of architecture, interiors, branding and graphics.  

His cross-disciplinary, strategic design approach is a result of a unique professional trajectory as a design leader within the industry of architecture as well as allied creative field of advertising and marketing.  Peter has worked for internationally recognized architecture firms including Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (New York); Kohn Pederson Fox Associates (London); and Bohlin, Cywinski, Jackson.  In addition, he served as a contributing design leader at world recognized experiential marketing creative agencies including Jack Morton Worldwide and Publicis Worldwide.

Peter is passionate about helping forward-thinking clients leverage design a means of communication and innovation.  He has the ability to transform client goals and strategic thinking into environments that engage the senses, align with project objectives and embody the values, identity and culture of the organization.  With every project, he seeks design solutions that take advantage of practical and pragmatic issues to create places that inspire.

Peter received his Masters in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.  He continues to be involved in the academic realm as a guest design juror and academic advisory board member.  

Currently, Peter is the founding Principal and Director of Design at Provost Studio, a cross-disciplinary interior design firm focused on commercial interiors and branded environments.  The practice is based in Raleigh-Durham with an office in Soho, New York City and actively serves the markets of office/workplace, hospitality/retail, cultural/institutional, exhibits/events and broadcast/media.

Nicholas McRoberts
Junior Designer

An enthusiastic and committed architecture graduate from Australia, Nicholas is deeply passionate about the role of design and technology in improving our homes and cities

With a diverse and rounded education, Nicholas is passionate about the growing connection between technology and human environments. To Provost Studio he brings specialised skills in computer aided design, architecture and presentation. By leveraging the power of innovative new software, he seeks to translate client identity and narrative into built architecture and interiors environments.

Working under the direction of our senior designers and project management, Nicholas provides expertise in the development and realisation of project objectives and design.

Prior to joining us at Provost Studio, Nic gained experience working in Melbourne, Australia, where he was exposed to a range of residential and commercial projects in the urban setting.

Nicholas is quickly building his professional experience. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the University of Melbourne, and is a registered LEED Green Associate with the United States Green Building Council.

Stephanie Parrish
Art Director + Sr. Graphic Designer

Stephanie Parrish   Sr. Graphic Designer

With over 18 years of experience in art direction and graphic design, Stephanie has worked with some of the world’s most well known brands including Volvo Trucks, Audi of America, Dell Computers, Quintiles and Royal Caribbean.  She excels in translating brand identity and key messaging into immersive graphic environments.

In her extensive professional experience, Stephanie has worked for creative agencies including McKinney, T3 and Rockett, Burkhead & Winslow.  Additionally, she has developed her own projects as a freelance Art Director.

Here at Provost Studio, Stephanie builds focused and poignant graphic narratives. In collaboration with our interior and architecture design team, her work translates brand and cultural identity into immersive visitor programs.   

Stephanie Holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.




Bethany Fleming
Content Curator


Bethany Fleming is a museum professional with over 15 years experience in museum, exhibit and interpretive development. 

At Provost Studio, Bethany provides her expertise in content curation, development and acquisition. Bethany works closely with our designers to build immersive, content-rich branded environments.

Previously, Bethany was the Director of Museum Experience at the National Hellenic Museum, the Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center, and Curator of Collections at the Geneva History Center. 

Outside of her collaboration on projects with Provost Studio, Bethany operates her owns and operates her own firm, Fleming Museum Consulting, Inc.  She holds a B.A. from Valparaiso University and an M.A. in Public and American History from Loyola University Chicago.


Paul Benson
Experience Designer


Paul is a creative designer that has the ability to express brand experiences across multiple platforms from digital design to environmental design.  He brings an innovative design sensibility and strategic approach to Provost Studio as well as an understanding of current trends in technology and interactive environments.

In addition, Paul specializes in consumer and market research, creative development, architectural rendering and graphic production.  In his previous professional experience, he has worked with leading brands such as CNN, Pepsi, Jack Daniels, AT&T, ABC, NBC, The New York Times, and MetLife.

He holds a Bachelor degree in Design and Interior Design from the Ohio State University, with international experience studying furniture and lighting design at The Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences.

Dave Catalano
Experience Designer


David Catalano is a designer and illustrator based in Asheville, NC.  Living at the gateway to the Appalachian Mountains serves as a beautiful backdrop and a source of inspiration while David works on projects both within and well beyond the reaches of Western North Carolina.  He has diverse background that includes theatre, television, themed entertainment, exhibit design, branded environments, experiential marketing, and architecture.

Throughout his career David has not only grown as a designer but has developed strong technical and organizational skills as well as a profound appreciation for the collaborative process. He has had the honor of working with many talented individuals and is proud to been a member of many award winning design teams.

David hails from New York City and has a B.F.A in Scenic Design from North Carolina School of the Arts.

Tom Schwinn
Scenic Designer + Project Manager


With a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa and 35 years of experience as a Scenic Production Designer, Tom has developed a unique body of work encompassing broadcast television, film, and theatrical productions. Over the span of his career he has produced designs for numerous notable clients such as CNN, VH-1, the NFL, NASCAR, In Performance At The White House.  

Tom provides Provost Studio with both innovative designs and project management expertise. Based in our New York office, Tom has successfully completed numerous jobs for a variety of our clients. His recent projects include: WVUA23-TV Studio, ACORD Studio, ARISE News-New York Bureau, Channel 9 Headquarters & Studio – Tbilisi, GE, and AFS Exhibit Concept. Tom 


Philip Widmer
Lighting Designer

Phil has over 25 years of professional lighting design experience ranging from small scale theater to network television and major Broadway productions both domestically and abroad.  Phil has designed and directed lighting productions at well known venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Chicago Symphony Hall.

Working in collaboration with Provost Studio, Phil has been instrumental in lighting a multitude of broadcast and media projects including the TV-9 Broadcast Headquarters in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia; WVUA-TV 23 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and the ACORD Corporate Broadcast Studio in Pearl River, New York.

Currently, Phil is the lighting designer for Live With Kelly and Michael at WABC-TV in New York and the owner of lighting design consultancy, Widmer Designs.  Phil has estimated that he has been responsible for over 17,000 hours of airtime in the last ten years for local WABC-TV programs.

Phil holds a BFA in Lighting Design from the California Institute of the Arts
